NOTES Most recent changes made 1/25/06 If you want to see the above in the font it was designed in here is where to download the font "Calligrapher". |
The Bible says Terah, Abraham's father, had his three sons by the age of 70. Abraham was listed first but we don't know for sure the birth order. Abraham was 75 when he left Haran which is where Terah died at the age of 205. It isn't clear on how long Abraham lived in Haran after Terah died as they had all dwelt there a while (Gen 11:31) but it doesn't say how long. |
The
Bible says Noah had his three sons by the age of 500.
Shem was listed first over and over yet it is unclear if he was oldest. Gen 10:21 refers to Japheth as the elder (or possibly more important) brother. In Gen 9:24 Noah referred to Ham as his younger son. In Gen 9:24-27 Noah might be rearranging the seniority of his sons because of what Ham did to him. So, since Shem had Arphaxed two years after the flood (Gen 11:10) at the age of 100 and Noah was 600 at the time the waters of the flood were upon the earth (Gen 10:7-11) I'm going to guess that Noah was 602 when Arphaxed was born. |
Abraham lived to be 175 and was 86 when Ishmael was born and 100 when Isaac was born. |
Thought
to ponder: All people on earth that Abraham encountered were descended from
Noah
and were within 10 generations of being his own relatives.
Think about how much food you'd have to prepare for a family reunion!! |
# Indicates they outlived Abraham. |
I
also broke it up into smaller, spaced-out tables below in case you want to
print it out. You might have to scale it down in your browser's print
preview mode to make them fit and you might have to do a little cutting and
pasting to make a bigger chart. If you are interested, I have a
Microsoft Excel chart of the same information. If you want a copy
here it is. Just save
it to your computer.
You may have to tweak it a bit to make it look good by changing fonts, font size, etc. |
