My husband had to tear up some of the automatic sprinkler system to put in some cement in our back yard. I am having to water by hand.
I can see my sprinkler watering the grass through a window near my computer. The
sprinkler is a really cool one. It's called a Rain Train. It looks like a little tractor with a helicopter rotor on top.
The water sprays out of the ends of the "rotors." The hose fastens on to the back of the "tractor." The rest of the hose I run under the tractor from back to front and lay the hose out on the grass in the pattern I want the tractor to follow.
As the water goes from the hose, up into the tractor and out the rotors the back wheels of the tractor move slowly. This propels the tractor forward. The front wheels of the tractor straddle the hose. Thus, the Rain Train follows the hose wherever I have laid it, all the while watering the lawn. It's a marvelous little invention!
Our lives are supposed to be like the Rain Train. God has a path for us to follow and He wants us to follow that path without deviation. He knows what is best for us and if we follow the path He lays out we are blessed.
As is God's nature, however, He is not going to force us to follow the path. As my Rain Train will water the grass without being placed on the hose "path" we have the choice to go where we want and do what we want.
But, the problem is, we end up "crashing" into things just as my Rain Train eventually would with no path to follow. It will just head out in whatever direction it is facing until it runs into the fence or some other obstacle, all the while continuing to water. It is still doing what it set out to do. . .sending out water, but it ends up watering the wrong thing or
over watering at the end of the trail.
We do the same thing without seeking God's direction. We think we are doing the right thing and we end up crashing and burning. We are limited in our knowledge and experiences and can only give most things our "best shot."
God can see what will happen to us tomorrow and every other day for the rest of our lives. He's seen it all. He's experienced it all. He knows the beginning from the end. Wouldn't it be wise to put our lives in His hands? Think about it!
