I used to think that praying was asking God for things. I never
really analyzed how I pictured God, but I guess it must have been like
someone who sat in front of a keyboard that had two buttons. The buttons
were labeled "Yes" and "No." God indiscriminately pressed one or the other.
Or perhaps it was like when kids go visit the Santa in department stores and
give him their "wish list." On Christmas morning they may find what they
asked for under the Christmas tree and sometimes something else is there.

Some time ago I felt the need to do a study on how the Bible says to
pray. I was concerned because I felt like my prayers were being unanswered.
I divided prayer up into different parts. I even put together a web page on
how the Bible says to pray. I figured I had the process called "prayer" down
pat. HA! |
I have since updated my prayer page to include many of the things I
have since discovered about effective prayer. If you want to improve your
prayer life then go read the prayer page (the link is on the banner below)
and come back and finish this. That page provides the basics. Back here in
my prayer closet I will go into much more detail about how I learned to
listen and then how to follow through on the plans the Lord laid out for me.
