I got a little overwhelmed since the last time I "talked" with you. Since my in-laws moved close to us I knew that there was a good possibility we would be the gathering place for relatives on the holidays. I wasn't taken by surprise, but it took up more time than I had figured. Plus, my grandbaby, Evan, came to visit us. That was a wonderful visit. Here's a couple of pictures. Then we were blessed to be able to have Christmas Eve dinner with my son Casey's fiancé's family. On Christmas we, again, hosted dinner. It also takes me forever to put up my Christmas decorations. I have tons of them in every room. Well, not really tons. That is a slight exaggeration. Then it takes another forever to put them away. That's OK because my husband loves Christmas decorations. He even got more creative with our outdoor decorations. Now that he is retired he has more time to spend on things around the house. So, I know that's not a good excuse for taking so long to get back here to the Clarion Call, but it is the only one I have. Will you forgive me? |
That wasn't the problem. When I was putting files back onto the computer from the hard drive I noticed that the hard drive was very nearly full and it was 150GB capacity. As I looked a little closer I found where it had backed up things over and over. For example, in a file that was labeled Cows (now don't start asking me why I would have a file that was about cows! ) I might have had sub-folders 1, 2, and 3. Upon closer inspection folder 2 might have contained another Cows folder with another set of subfolders 1, 2, and 3. That subfolder 3 might have contained another Cows folder with even more subfolders 1, 2, and 3! Wow! How did that happen? I started deleting duplicates left and right. Let's throw in a big DUH right here for me. I deleted all the pictures figuring I could just put them all back from my computer. I HADN'T COPIED THEM TO MY COMPUTER YET!!!! I deleted all my pictures! Well, all my pictures after 3/20/09 since the prior ones had been backed up separately. I went immediately to download.com and looked for a program that could recover deleted photos. I found one, downloaded it, and put it to work. That darn program didn't just recover photos, it recovered every single file that was on that hard drive. You might think that was a good thing except: It gave me 805 folders that each contained around 500 items. Like I told you I had folders repeated inside folders.... so in those 805 folders I had repeats after repeats. Plus, I had tons of photos for my web design business that hadn't been deleted so I have to go through my recovered photos and get rid of them. They aren't necessarily in any order either. So, when I finish going through all those 805 folders and delete everything that isn't a photo I have to get rid of the business photos. Then I have to figure out which ones are before 3/20/09 and delete those since I already have them. Oh yes, I messed up big time! I needed some of those photos for my annual present I make for family members, photo calendars. That was another thing that took up lots of my time just before Christmas. I finally got everything straightened out and backed up properly. My husband got me a portable hard drive for Christmas so I backed things up there as well as on my other backup drive. All the calendars were finished too late for Christmas, but they got to their destinations before January first. |
My kitty, Precious, is a tail hugger. When she walks by me she
wraps her tail around my leg to hug me. She even does "air
hugs". She can walk through a room and I can tell she's hugging
me without touching me. She fluffs her tail and leans it in my
direction. I am very blessed with the two cats God has given me. They are both very loving toward me and toward each other. Precious greets me every morning when I get up. Rudi, on the other hand, likes to stay in bed. However, Rudi likes to lay in my lap when I'm working at the computer. He lays upside down in my arms like a baby would. They sure do make me smile. |
I used to have the Clarion Call as well as all the sites I
designed for customers of Kay's Heavenly Web Design hosted at
christianwebhost.com. At first the owners of the company were
involved in the customer service. Then, a couple of years ago,
they outsourced their customer service. From that time on the
customer service went downhill. They deleted things such as page counters. They quit servicing their guestbook which allowed some horrid spam to appear on Christian sites. They no longer offer Christian webhosting, just regular webhosting. Quite a few customers were complaining in their forums. I just found out that they deleted the forums. They still offer themselves as "The Christian Approach to Web Hosting" but that is no longer true. It's pretty sad when we Christians are tricked into giving someone business just because they say they are Christian. It just goes to show you that we must "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good." 1Th 5:21 |
If you know anything about getting books published would you give me some pointers? I have no clue how to find a publisher or how to convince them to publish the book I am writing. It is non-fiction. |
