Lots of things have been happening around here. As I mentioned in the past
my husband's niece moved in with us over a year ago. She lost her
apartment and was going to go to a homeless shelter. We made a quick
decision to bring her home with us. She has 50/50 custody of her two children. They are now 5 and 6 years old. I try to spend a lot of time with the children because they need the attention. Unfortunately, their mother and father seem to want to do other things than interact with their children. My husband and I have tried to help our niece learn how to parent but she fought us every step of the way. The only job she got was part time and only lasted a couple of months. When she slept late and missed a job fair that was the last straw. Last week we gave her notice to move by April 26th. Interestingly enough, that seems to have lit a fire under her. She has been dressing up and apparently going out looking for a job every day since that day even though she told me she did the best she could searching for a job before that. Already she has been trying to punish me by keeping the kids away from me. It breaks my heart but there isn't much else I can do but pray for them. |
Just before Babe died we went to the pound and adopted two new dogs, Darlin' and Hoss. They were both under a year old. Just after we got them home Babe died. I thank God we had the two new dogs when she died because our back yard would have been very empty without them. Unfortunately they were both sick when we got them from the pound. The conditions at the pound were awful. That's another story. Anyway, it was three months before they were disease-free. In that short time Darlin' became dog aggressive. She wanted to fence-fight with dogs when we went on walks. When I got the dogs I wanted to take them to dog parks, the beach, and other places. We could have if they didn't have to be quarantined so long. Darlin' was fine when we first picked her out. So, I've been working with her. I'm finally seeing some change, but it has been slow coming. There is still much work to do. I want to make her walk on our treadmill but our garage is filled with our niece's things. Ugh. |
From November last year through February I had bronchitis four times. That threw me for a loop and slowed me down considerably. I'm still trying to play catch-up. |
